February 4 - Paul Cezanne

4 While many of my contemporaries in art history classes were oohing and ahhing over Monet's color, I fell hard for Cezanne. His still lifes with fruit caught my eye, but the real deal closer were his landscapes and buildings. I appreciate his use of fundamental shapes to tell a larger story. His color choices enhance his style and set an inviting tone.

After many years, Cezanne is still near the top of my list.
