Biography

I work in mixed media, combining acrylic paint, fabrics, natural elements, and more to celebrate life. The themes that continually emerge in my work involve nature, daily life, and circles. I think of my work as connecting different elements to build a unified whole. Layers of images, colors and textures used in the work often bring elements of depth and mystery to my projects.

My work can be seen in Lunaria Gallery, situated in historic downtown Silverton where the parking meters still cost only one cent. Additionally, private viewings of current works are available. Several national publications (such as Somerset Studio and ARTitude) have published my work and articles.

Oregon State University provided my formal introduction to fiber arts, and I continue to delight in dyeing fabric. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in fiber arts. As a fiber art major, I browsed the huge library stacks for inspiration from different cultures and still enjoy leafing through books for interesting design and color inspiration. (My advanced degrees are in not art-related areas.)

I was born in Salem, Oregon, and never dreamed I would live just 15 miles away in charming Silverton. In between time, I lived in various parts of Oregon, Texas, California, and, as a child, in Australia for almost three years.
